A talent search initiative is on its way to Uitenhage. Gospel singer Nombasa Swartbooi is currently organizing a series of contests starting from May 10th in KwaNobuhle township, to May 17th in Despatch, and the final round of the preliminary contests finishes in  kwaLanga township on the June 1.

These preliminary  rounds of the competition  will be followed by a semi-final contest taking place at “ KwaNobuhle Love Life Centre” on June 15th while the final stages of the event  will be completed  on  July 6 at Babs Madlakane Community Hall.

Purpose  : Introduction of the establishment of the NMBAC
 
The Interim Committee tasked with the establishment of the Nelson Mandela Bay Arts Council hereby calls all the Artists of the Nelson Mandela Bay to a meeting that will be held at Nangoza Jebe Hall (Formerly Centenary Hall) as mentioned above. 
 Purpose
The purpose of this meeting is to give artists the background information on the work of the Interim Committee, state of the arts in the Nelson Mandela Bay, the reasons behind the establishment of the NMB Arts Council, the presentation of the DRAFT Founding Document of the NMB Arts Council and for discussing the way forward and inform the artists on when the NMB Arts Council will be elected. 
 Call to the artists
It is therefore critical and important that you please avail yourselves in participating in this process that is aimed at structuring the artists of the City.

Nombasa Swartbooi is working hard to ensure her music career is growing from strength to strength. Following her latest collaboration  with a Western Cape  producer, Livard Hansa she is preparing a launch of a second album namely “Vum’Iindaba” (Welcome The Good News).

The 14-track album will be launched on October 20 in Uitenhage. Mbasa as she is affectionately known, believes she is taking the gospel industry to another level and soon her music will be heard beyond the boundaries of the Eastern Cape.

She described her latest CD as ‘Spiritually Fulfilling”, accessible to all ages and written in both English and Xhosa.

With the increase in violent crimes in the Eastern Cape, local artists have taken it upon themselves to use art to keep kids away from a life of crime.

On 11 October, 2013 the community of Kwazakhele will has an arts extravaganza including cultural dance, poetry and hip-hop.

This multi-discipline event known as “Ngena Nayo Fusion”  is aimed at affording up-and-coming artists from the township an opportunity to showcase their talents to their own communities. It will highlight the fact that the Metro is rich with a great deal of art and talent.

Organiser, Odwa Mngini expressed excitement about the event, saying that his vision of preventing the youth from leading a life on the streets is starting to bear fruit. He established his arts and entertainment company, Mngini Productions in 2009 for this purpose.
