Andrew Warneke is a solo bass artist living in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He plays jazz and original solo pieces. He has performed solo at Bass Day South Africa 2009, OzFest Unplugged, the 2009 Global Leadership Summit, and the Eastern Cape's Got Talent competition (as a guest artist and judge). He also plays regular gigs at various restaurants and functions in and around PE.

Apart from his solo gigs, Andrew has also done recording sessions and performances for various solo artists such as Mark J. Scholtz, Claire Harmse and Lara Osborne (UK). He is also part of popular Port Elizabeth jazz group, Two Guys and a Girl, and was the bassist for Ten Story Fall, runner up in the RBF challenge last year. In 2010 Andrew will be performing extensively in a jazz quartet with Tarynne Swarts, Kristo Zondagh and Kyle du Preez.

Andrew has endeavoured to break the perception that the bass is a 'background' or 'support' instrument with the release of his first album entitled, Just the Bassics (2009). The album features Warneke as the sole musician on bass, with drum tracks on two of the songs.

Warneke says the tracks are inspired by life, love and God and hopes his passion for music is passed on to the listener through the simplicity and beauty of each song.

Andrew graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 2006, and has been the accredited bass lecturer there since 2006, and a full time music teacher at Harvest Christian School since 2007.

Warneke has dedicated his life to music and to showing others how to be inspired by it.

“Whether it’s through teaching someone to play music, or through someone listening to my songs, I love the way music can inspire people,” says Warneke.

Andrew Warneke endorses Hartke amplifiers and Cort basses.
