Nombeko Dorolina Zimema is the youngest daughter of Chief Master Zimema and Chieftainess Nomzi Zimeme. She was born in the small village of Zulumema (Qawuka) near the town of Whittlesea in the Eastern Cape.

She believes that being raised by the royal family of the Amahlubi tribe taught her many valuable skills including communication, leadership and motivation.

At the age of 13, she was selected to praise all of the Hlubi chiefs, and did so with dignity and respect.

Over the years, Ms Zimema has participated in numerous ceremonies and has attended a number of workshops on arts and culture, strategic management and policy making. She is an experienced teacher with an academic record of 27 years. She also served as the deputy principal of Ilitha Public Primary School for a number of years.

Only after she retired, did Ms Zimema find her passion for poetry. She has put together an anthology of 30 poems and has also written some short stories which she is submitting for publication. In 2010, Ms Zimema represented Port Elizabeth at the Grahamstown Word Festival, and was recognized as one of the provinces top up-and-coming poets.

She has recently submitted her anthology of 31 poems for publishing. Her wide range of subjects include messages from Xhosa traditional kings, nature and the environment and wise words from elders.

Some of her poetry works include, ‘A Gobilanga” a King of the Mfengu Clan, and “Intukunyembe” a herb used for stomach aches and “Incame” a plant that grows near the river and used craftwork.
