In 1999, Drum Magazine published an article on the young up-and-coming gospel artist, Noluvo Duna, calling her “The youngest gospel artist ever to record an album, at age 11, and the album was produced by the youngest gospel producer.”

The daughter of a choral choir conductor, and a mother with a strong and powerful voice, Noluvo Duna grew up around music and started performing at church functions at the tender age of six.

Three years later, aged nine, she was discovered by a young and ambitious Sivuyile “Vovee” Batala, who was at that time a keyboard player and songwriter at the local church (IAG Bhisho). Sivuyile “Vovee” Batala spotted the talent in Noluvo, and began training and grooming her to become a star.

Noluvo was so good that at age 11, she was signed by EMI, CCP Records, in a joint venture deal with Sizwe Zako Records.

The debut album (Thumb’ uJesu), released in the late 90’s, was produced by Sivuyile “Vovee” Batala, Sizwe Zako, Bigboy Mkhize, Kabelo Balleng and Rebecca Malope. Rebecca also featured on two tracks of the album and took Noluvo on her country-wide promotional tours. The nation fell in love with the young girl’s angelic, powerful voice, and her album was a hit.

Following her graduation from matric, Noluvo put her music career on hold for a time to concentrate on her studies. Now, after a ten year hiatus, she is back, and ready to take the music industry by storm. She has completed her studies, married and matured as an artist and has delivered another incredible album.

Under her own label, Noluvo Music Ministries, the twelve track album entitled Ebenezer is produced by Noluvo and Sivuyile “Vovee” Batala, and is one of many projects still to come that will minister to the souls of the nation.

According to Noluvo, “Music is a calling, and God is looking for true sons and daughters who, with their voices, will praise and worship until the heavens are open. Their gift will help make homes a better place to be, restore families and heal our land.”

She acknowledges the supporters and fans from her past, and promises to bring them some fresh new music. “Enkosi ngegalelo nenkxaso yenu! From the days of the Themb’ uJesu album to the Ebenezer album, be blessed!”
