Dave Goldblum offers advice to Upcoming Artists...

Eastern Cape Talent has noticed that there are a number of critical factors that need immediate attention in order to assist up and coming artists to reach their full potential in this country.
In future newsletters, we will be highlighting some of these issues and seeking advice from ‘those in the know.’
This month, we chatted to one of South Africa’s music icons, Dave Goldblum and asked him to give advice to young artists. Goldblum has played extensively both locally and abroad in his 25 year career as musician, and recorded five albums of his own with a variety of South African and international artists. His music can be described as a fusion of jazz, folk and African – a style that he has made uniquely his own. .

Local artist reaches international ears through TV Show

Roger Mhlontlo is steadily climbing the international music scene with his third album entitled “Just Me” which was launched in Cape Town in October this year.
Describing his latest album, “Just Me”, Mhlontlo says that he has been inspired by the lack of love and appreciation people show for valuable things in life. “I have been looking around and noticing how people are focusing on making money and not taking care of themselves or their partners,” he says.
The young musician from Zwide, Port Elizabeth was first exposed to an international audience when one of his songs was aired on Big Brother Canada. Director of Big Brother America, Carl Robinson, heard the track and knew that he had to help Mhlontlo produce his next album.

New Afroteens

New Afro Teens Rock PE with album launch!

The New Afroteens certainly made a statement at the launch of their latest album, Siyazazisa (Introducing Ourselves). The event, held in Cubana Latino Restaurant, saw the young band from Port Elizabeth blowing the audience away with their vibrant and energetic sound.
Along with songs from their new album, The New Afroteens performed the hit song, TikiTiki, with guest artist, Phinda Matlala. This had the audience dancing and clapping along. Matlala co-wrote the song Siyazazisa, which features on the new album and is also the title track.
