Humansdorp becoming a place of musical development ...

By Sibongile Xaluva (EC Talent artist coordinator )

Dynamic songwriter, singer and music teacher from Jefferey’s Bay, ELSaBé Rademeyer, hosted the EMR Music Alliance “Geboorte van ‘n Ster” concert on June 05, 2010.
According to Rademeyer, the show was aimed at giving exposure to her young artists in front of a live audience. “I know what the adrenalin does to you on stage, this is what I wanted my pupils to experience. As entertainers in training they must feel the rush on stage,” says Rademeyer.
Driven by a need to pass on her skills to the next generation, Rademeyer opened the EMR Music Alliance in Humansdorp in early 2010. The concert was one of the first of many to come.
Rademeyer opened the teacher/student music show together with Annie Vosloo on piano, and followed it up with long-time associate, Robert Gilmer.
The rest of the concert featured performances by the music school’s pupils ranging in ages from 8 to 16 years.
“It was a highly successful event,” says Rademeyer.

St Dominic’s Priory Hosts Successful Regional Competition

An inspiring move to achieving this goal has been shown by St Dominic Priory School in Port Elizabeth after launching a regional music competition, “Strictly Come Singing”. It has attracted participants from schools from as far as Port Alfred and Tsitsikamma.
It is an extremely valuable starting block for young singers, as many established artists in the country began their careers by singing at school, in a church choir or local community bands..
