Bionic Breakers

Bionic Breakers is a B-boy/B-girl (breakdance) crew which practices the art form of Hip Hop dance (breakdancing). The Crew’s was started as a reaction to gang violence, drug abuse and teenage pregnancies in the townships of Grahamstown between three Bboy crews in 2002.

Three groups were approached by a Hip Hop and community activists  to unite and make one crew which led to the birth of Bionic Breakers.

“We learned our art form from visiting relatives from around the Eastern Cape and South Africa and later on from International B-boys /B-girls,” says the Crew.  “Our inspiration is the hardships in our environment and life experiences. We want to help build the breakdancing and entertainment industry as a means for disadvantaged youth to build a career out of the art form and for the art form to be well established as a culture.”
