BRIEF HISTORY OF THE GROUP

Rhyme Prophets is composed of group of young people from Moses Mabida in Kirkwood. The group was formed in 2003 by Sinethemba Mboyo and Sifundo Elton Daweti. They first performed on street corners, but through the interaction with their audiences, they grew a love and passion for the spoken word. They were one of the pioneers of hip-hop in the Sundays River Municipality.
In 2004, the group had grown to seven members, and the members went on a journey to learn about the music industry. They also interacted with other hip-hop artists in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.
In early 2006, the group met the producer of Ensime studios and recorded their first album, titled “Straight from eKasi”. The track, Columbus, helped the group make a name for themselves in the Kirkwood community, and paved the way for the band in the hip-hop community.
In 2007, the group started to diversify, and group member, Sifundo Elton Daweti launched Kasi recording studios. In 2008, Kasi collaborated with Ensime studios to release a recording titled, “Still Young.”
Rhyme Prophets have performed in Enoch Sontonga Carnival in Uitenhage, Absa Kirkwood Wildfees, Rietberg Community Festival and various Municipal events.
